In 1989, the Lord began to reveal the vision of Shekinah – that of a prayer house and retreat/healing centre at Newchurch-in-Pendle ….. "A place where the wounded warriors of Christ can come to seek the face of the Lord and find rest and renewal for their lives".

By 1994, building permission had been granted and the Shekinah Christian Trust became a registered charity, to be administered by Christians from different denominations.

Over the years, a dedicated core of supporters has been working to see the vision fulfilled, with valuable contributions – in terms of prayer, finance and practical help – from Christians, both locally and across the UK..

In January 2010, the day facilities were completed and continue to be used by individuals and Christian groups on a daily basis, being blessed by the peace and solitude found at Shekinah in the presence of the Lord.

In July 2014, the next major stage of the vision was accomplished with the opening of the residential facilities.

Most recent of all, in terms of sustainability and cost, at the end of 2022, we have installed solar panels to provide the first of two phases of introducing efficient and effective energy supplies to our premises.

We believe that Shekinah is, indeed, “A place where the wounded warriors of Christ can come and seek the face of the Lord and find rest and renewal for their lives”.

Our Mission Statement

Shekinah Christian Centre exists to uphold the Christian faith and the work of the Church in all denominations.

Also, to provide a place of rest, prayer and healing for both residential and day visitors, where believers can be encouraged in His service in an atmosphere of peace, security and love flowing from praise to God.
