The story of Shekinah, begins in July1989 on a farm, Saddlers farm where Peter and Margaret Capstick were tenant farmers. Margaret was working in one of the fields below the farm when she sensed that the Lord was speaking to her. He told hher that He wanted to use the farm buildings.
As Margaret looked up to the building from the field, God showed it to her, in a vision, fully refurbished and being used by Him for His purposes. The Lord's presence was pouring out! Margaret shared her visionwith Peter and over the next 30 years God led Peter and Margaret on an incredible journey. They followed Him in obedience and faith. The 1st day facilities were opened in 2000 and completed in 2009. In 2016 the renovations to the farm buildings were completed allowing Shekinah to offer accommodation.
Peter and Margaret handed over the running of the centre in 2016, they both remained working until Margaret retired in 2018 with Peter still working part time. They still live in and own the farmhouse.
Due to ill health Peter and Margaret are now ready to move out of the farmhouse.
Message from Peter
Margaret and I need to move from the farmhouse. We have given our lives work to bring into being the vision of Shekinah. in order to move we need the funds from the sale of the house. Due to ill health , moving out of the farmhouse has become urgent.
To continue with our vision Shekinah Trust needs to buy the farmhouse for the warden/caretaker to live in as there needs to be someone on site. A price has been agreed but the Trust needs to find the funds. As a charity we are not a profit making organization so it needs a lot of prayer to find that sort of money.
Message from Margaret
Over the last 30 years it has been an enormous privilege and joy, as well as challenging and faith building, to have worked alongside the Lord and many people in the establishing of Shekinah. I know we could not have done this if we had not lived in the house right next to the centre. It is now tinme for Peter and myself to move into the next phase of our lives. I believe for Shekinah to fulfil its full potential in God, Saddler's farmhouse needs to become a part of the Shekinah Trust. It requires a Warden/ caretaker/volunteers to live on site for both the practical and spiritual growth to continue.
Message from the Warden, Tracey
I started working at Shekinah 12 years ago. Firstly as a volunteer, then part time, gradually building up to becoming warden in 2016. I have watched and been a part of the development and growth of Shekinah over the years, both physically and spiritually.
Our foundation is prayer and we are here to serve God and to serve our visitors.
Peter and Margaret were given the vision of Shekinah and worked faithfully to bring that vision into being. They have now handed the vision on and we are working to build on those foundations, building up the prayer and a community of workers serving God to providing a safe, peaceful, relaxing place, where people can find rest, encouragement, healing and be filled with God's love, peace, joy and hope.
I have a fantastic team of dedicated, hard workers who are always willing to 'go the extra mile'.
The farmhouse was an essential part of the farm in the past, as the farmer needed to be onhand for the animals at all times. In the same way we need to be on hand for our visitors, so that we can tend to their needs. The farmhouse and the buildings work together making the centre 'whole'.
I would like to thank all the people who faithfully support us in prayer , by volunteering and financally and we are very grateful for all who feel to give a donation toward to purchase and renovation of the farmhouse.
The old farmhouse is situated on the same site as the centre. The purchase of the house gives the opportunity to fulfil God's plans and purposes for Shekinah as a 'house of prayer'. A place for people to come and spend time with God, finding peace, rest and healing.
